More Skiing 2009...

We had our most epic ski year yet this past ski season. Overall we got in a record of nearly 15 days of skiing which is pretty good for the two-full-time-working-parents-with-two-young-children-and-all-their-other-activities standard.

 

The boys really took to it this and became little expert skiers thanks to many of our friends kids who pushed them onto more and more challenging terrain.By the end the of season all they wanted to do were black diamond runs and the bigger the moguls the better. Consequently, our 8 and 6 year old kids pushed Sheila and I onto more expert terrain as well. So I guess we are going to become bump skiers too if we ever want to ski with the kids again.

 

We had a great time skiing with friends and neighbors. And while we did plan several extended mountain trips with friends we also hooked up with various friends and neighbors spontaneously on our many day ski trips.

In February we rented a beautiful ski house at Winter Park with a crew of current and former Blue Heron friends. There we enjoyed all

the traditional things that make ski vacations great including wonderful meals, extended apres ski happy hours and late night company of friends.

The skiing and tubing were pretty great too.

The Crawford family

For Spring Break we rented a house in Steamboat with our Rockies Court neighbors. The mountains were hurting for snow when we arrived

due to a very warm winter. But mother nature soon remedied that situation and dumped snow on Steamboat for 3 consecutive days. Can you

say powder day! It was our first experience in deep powder and despite battling whiteout conditions when the wind whipped up, it was awesome.

It was a little tough on the boys though and sometimes Brendan could barely move in the deep snow.

 

Later in the week we stayed with friends in Grand Lake and put in two days at Mary Jane under clear blue skies.
